The Tammy Faye Biopic
In the battle between spirituality and money, the victory is clear for greed in Michael Showalter's delightfully tacky biopic regarding the shamed TV preacher plus her lawbreaking partner. Andrew Garfield portrays the venal Jim, who states early on, asserting religious justification for riches. Both individuals set about capitalizing on the American public's Christian beliefs. It's a spectacle of bad interior design, excessive cosmetics and bad faith, though the lead actress manages to show Tammy Faye in a likable light. Tuesday 14 October, late night, the Film4 channel
